Myeik was known as Mergui during the British colonial era, and is located western side of Tanintharyi Region. Mergui Archipelago is an enormous area featuring more than 800 pristine islands dotted throughout the Andaman Sea between Myeik (Mergui) and Kawthaung (Victoria Point).
